Steven Kennedy
Steven Kennedy loves this time of year, and looking at his painting and the view he's working from, you can see why. With no leaves on the trees, you can see all the way down to the water. The painting he's working on includes a cluster of buildings we can't usually see together - many of them will be hidden in trees soon. But now, you can get a sense of the center of Wellfleet - different architectural styles, different purposes, old and new, all built in and around each other. He also loves the luminosity of the light at this time of year and the bright, clear days.

Maggie Schmidt

"Miles turned one on Feb 15. We really didn't know how to commemorate the big day. We wanted to do something that he would really love and since we don't really know what that is yet, we had to make some leaps. He loves cheese and making new friends at the coffee shop and dogs. Since a wine and cheese social at the Starbucks felt a bit grown up for a 1 year old's party, we came up with the dog park cake. My mother was in town and she game me some good tips on frosting - she used to make the most elaborate cakes for us as kids. We think Miles liked it. And now the bar is set for next year." Crary Mills

We're always so happy to see what our potters (and everyone else, for that matter) are up to. While looking for a bio on Ronald Larsen of Crary Mills, I stumbled on this book.
Here's what I found:
"In a celebration of the functional and the handmade, potter Ronald Larsen has gathered an engaging collection of essays, stories, poems, and observations by a wide range of potters, writers, philosophers, and other artisans, exploring the history, aesthetics, and philosophy behind making pots--or anything else--by hand. "
Includes, among others, the writings of:
Marguerite Wildenhain--A Potter's Philosophy
Octavio Paz--Use and Contemplation
Lafcadio Hearn--The Tale of the Porcelain-God
John Updike--From the Journal of a Leper
Jamake Highwater--Illusions of Originality
Wallace Stevens--Anecdote of the Jar
Bernard Leach--The Potter's Challenge
